The story
My first ever one-on-one Saints In Sleeves card had to be Leo Scienza. I vividly recall that South Coast derby at Fratton Park in January 2026, where Leo scored that memorable goal against Portsmouth. After the goal, I remember him running the length of the pitch to celebrate wildly with the travelling Southampton fans. There was talk of him dancing with a Brazilian flair near the Milton End after his strike – it really felt like he’d etched his name in Southampton folklore forever. On 25 January 2026, Southampton took on Portsmouth in a Sky Bet Championship match at Fratton Park which ended in a 1-1 draw. Léo Scienza opened the scoring for Southampton in the 57th minute, finishing off a swift counter-attack by slotting the ball past Portsmouth’s goalkeeper, Nicolas Schmid. Portsmouth later equalised in the 77th minute through Ebou Adams, who headed in a corner delivered by Adrian Segecic. The match was notable for its intensity and close chances, including two opportunities for Southampton’s Adam Armstrong in the first half that were kept out by Schmid. There was a heavy police presence due to the fierce rivalry, with reports of five arrests during the game.
